The number of fitness tracker users worldwide is approximately 135.8 million; but it is expected to be twice this number by 2025-–nearly 309 million users. Fitness trackers are as common as smartphones. They can motivate customers to exercise more often and reduce health risks resulting in increased profits for health insurance companies from fewer payouts and increased longevity of more customers. This has led health insurance companies to use fitness trackers to promote a healthy lifestyle for their clients. This is not a new trend but as fitness trackers continue to improve with new features, this integration with the insurance industry will continue and become more common. This technology is invasive so customers would worry about data security and privacy. CTOs must guide other C-level executives to ensure that these issues are solved, and customers are aware of this to get full customer buy-in for this technology.
